PTH designed the RR-33 Riser Tool in 1984. It was throughly tested under strict criteria defined by the Hughes Engineering Test Department (test criteria available on request). The RR-33 proved to be the only tool to ever pass the test. Over 60 tools have shipped, representing a market share of over 80%, and most are still working today.

The HR-33 & HR-40 Riser Tools are now available from PTH. It is the same proven tool as the RR-33 but offers several important new features.

HR-33 and HR-40 Riser Tool Features:

 

 
  • Uses rig hydraulics - no separate console OR panel necessary
  • Up to 40,000 foot pounds tailored to your requirements
  • Hydraulic drive pawl - Instant fail safe engagement & lift
  • Profile - socket bottom to motor top = 11 7/8"
  • Totally self-contained - All necessary operation controls are tool-mounted
 
    • Tool mounted torque control valve - set the required torque at the tool
    • Tool mounted operator valve - convenient, safe and maintenance free
    • Tool mounted hydraulic rundown motor - rapid bolt run-in and out
    • Tool mounted motor speed control - adjustable up to 585 RPM
    • Tool mounted motor torque control - set motor torque at the tool
    • Tool mounted flow control - for safe, controlled tool operation
    • Tool mounted torque gauge - visable assurance desired torque is reached
    • Tool mounted counterweight/balance (optional) - makes tool easy to handle
